We are sad to report that Mr. Tom Okamura, the State Representative for Aiea and Halawa, has resigned due to health reasons.
Mr. Okamura previously served as a state representative for the Aiea area between 1980 and 2000, when he resigned for health reasons. He was recently reappointed as a representative by Governor Neil Abercrombie to replace Mr. Blake Oshiro, who Mr. Abercrombie appointed as his new deputy chief of staff.
We know that Mr. Okamura worked tirelessly for his community for several decades and we sincerely thank him for his hard work and wish him the very best.
Come and Celebrate the Season!
This year’s third annual Aiea Christmas Parade will be on Saturday, December 10, 2011. The parade will feature Santa, the Aiea High School Band, various Aiea school and comunity associations, and much more!
The route will run from Pearlridge Park (next to Pearlridge Elementary School), head east (Koko Head-bound) on Moanalua Road in the mauka lanes, past Pearl Ridge Shopping Center, then turn left onto Ka‘amilo Street, then right onto Ulune Street, past Aiea High School, and end at the site of the Aiea Sugar Mill on Halewiliko Street.
Be sure to check out the Family Fun Fair at the Old Sugar Mill Site on Halewiliko Street after the parade is done!
