Everyone is invited to a ‘Aiea/Pearl City Town Hall meeting this evening (Thurs., May 19) from 7-8:30pm at Pearlridge Elementary School! The topic is on DISASTER PREAREDNESS/AWARENESS and will discuss potential natural disasters that could threaten ‘Aiea and Pearl City and what steps you can take to ensure the safety of our senior citizens in the event of a natural disaster. For example, what steps should you take to account for special needs like medication requirements or mobility constraints? Great opportunity for those caring for our kupuna.
A BIG mahalo is in order to the Pearl Ridge Estates Community Association for their very generous donation of almost $4,000 to the Friends of ‘Aiea Library! This donation will go very far in helping the Friends in their mission to support the ‘Aiea Library and its services, resources, and programs! It is VERY much appreciated!
Mahalo also to State Representative Sam Satoru Kong for facilitating this donation and ensuring everything went smoothly!
The next ACA meeting will be happening on Monday, May 16th at 7:30pm at the ‘Aiea Public Library conference room. We hope to see you there.

Tomorrow (April 5th), the Honolulu City Council’s Budget Committee will be meeting at 9am to discuss, among other things, a proposed amendment from Council Chair Ernie Martin that would add to the city’s budget $3.84 million that would be used to reimburse the federal government for section 8 fees that were used to buy the ‘Aiea Sugar Mill property back in the early 200s.
By reimbursing the federal government, it would allow the site to be developed with a wider range of uses, some of which may include senior housing or rehabilitation services, a community recreation center, and other related uses that would serve the ‘Aiea community’s best interests.
We encourage you to please take some time to submit written testimony in support of this amendment. All you have to do is follow this link and fill out the form to express your support. Governor David Ige will be the guest speaker at a town hall meeting scheduled for this Thursday, March 24th. The event is happening from 7:00 to 8:30pm at Pearl Ridge Elementary School’s cafeteria. This is an opportunity for residents to listen to the Governor speak about issues important to the ‘Aiea/Pearl City area.
