Pat Lee from HART graciously sent over some information regarding the proposed train station names for the Honolulu Rail Transit Project. The station names reflect forgotten place names, historic events, and significant sites in Hawaiian culture. It is hoped that the names will perpetuate the traditions, culture, and history of Hawaiʻi and help knit the rail system into the fabric of Oʻahu. The station names were recommended by HART’s Hawaiian Station Naming Working Group, whose members used diverse community knowledge, oral accounts, and written history to come up with the names.
